Dr Yang graduated from Taipei Medical University in 1995. After two years’ military service, he received resident training at National Taiwan University Hospital (NTUH) during 1997-2002. During 2002-2007, he was an attending surgeon at Department of Traumatology of NTUH. After 2007 till now, he is back to Department of Surgery as an attending surgeon of NTUH focusing on multi-disciplinary treatment for neuroendocrine tumors, GIST, and laparoscopic pancreas and spleen surgery. In 2011, Dr Yang got PhD degree when he graduated from Graduate Institute of Toxicology (Lab of Molecular and Cancer Toxicology), College of Medicine, National Taiwan University.

Between 2004-2005, he was a research fellow at University of Miami and Jackson Memorial Hospital at Miami of USA for learning human islet cell transplantation. In the past 20 years, he has ever visited and trained at Korea (Yonsei U for robotic surgery; Asan U for laparoscopic Whipple), China (Zhejiang Hospital for laparoscopic Whipple), and Japan (Wakayama U for radical Whipple operation for pancreatic cancer). During 2019-2020, he was a visiting fellow for learning pancreas transplantation at University of Wisconsin-Madison, USA.

 Current interests of Dr Yang are: 1. Pancreas and islet transplantation. 2. Clinical and translational research on pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors, pancreatic cancer, GIST, and sarcoma. 3. MIS surgery on pancreas, spleen, and GIST.  Since 2021, Dr Yang is promoted as a clinical associate professor at Department of Surgery, College of Medicine, National Taiwan University.
